Roadtrip 2015 Fall: Vancouver - Astoria - Bandon - Anderson - Paso Robles - Palm Desert - Morongo Valley - Sedona - Henderson - Lone Pine - Sacramento - Ashland - Newport - Astoria - Vancouver

Day 11 - Joshua Tree

Emma has thoroughly settled into our Morongo Valley house.

This is where the folks on Easter Island got the big idea to make giant heads to keep the extraterrestrials from landing. I wouldn't land here, neither.

The latest instalment of our time-honoured game of Mystery Poo of the Day.

The World-Famous Jabba the Hut Monument. Really.

How many times do I have to say "photography is boring".

Todays clouds must be crazy - this one is emulating the oak leaves of the only living oak tree in all of Joshua Tree Park.

Every time we look over towards the Marine base at 29 Palms, we notice weird contrails in the sky. And we notice the glint of sniper scopes watching us. And we avert our eyes and pretend we've noticed nothing. So far, this has worked.

Further to the efforts to deter the aliens - they especially don't like the one with the long pointy snout.

Just another pile of rocks.

Skippy the sky dolphin is particularly pleased with herself today. Did I say the clouds must be crazy?

Only one of these tourists has noted the imminent danger of these rapidly approaching invasion clouds. The rest are happy to maintain their blissful ignorance.

Multiple shafts of light beam over the Coachella Valley. Oh oh - we know what happened yesterday afternoon, and that was only one shaft.

These guys have just played Rock-Paper-Scissors. We're still not sure who has do to what next. But the guy in red doesn't look very happy.

Last light at Joshua Tree. Strange indeed. Hope we make it back to the ranch.
